Stupid 7, the directorial debut film of well known theatre personality Pali Bhupinder Singh, was premiered at a show at DT Mall in Chandigarh where the star cast and other big names of the Punjabi Film industry were present to witness the gala event.
The movie is based on a play, titled: Me and my storyand the main characters of the movie are Sahib, Tanya, Udit, Parry, Ishmeet, Deepinder and Saivi. The title of the movie has been composed by extracting the first alphabet of each of the character's name.
Bhupinder Singh Pali has experimented with the family drama by handpicking young and new faces in the lead roles. By casting these fresh and upcoming stars over the established ones, he has attempted to debunk the myth that Punjabi films run on star value.
The movie revolves around the lives of seven school friends, each employing a different strategy to deal with his/her school and family problems, individually. Besides facing tough academic challenges, the youngsters battle tumultuous situations taking a call on emotional and familial issues from time to time. The movie showcases how their problems turn them naughty, wayward and irresponsible.
Veteran actor Gugu Gill, who has assayed the role of a father in the movie, said, "Working in this movie was altogether a different experience for me not because of the role but because I was working with teenage debutant actors. These young kids are full of enthusiasm, innovative ideas and unfailing vigour."
Speaking with the media, Pali Bhupinder Singh said, "The reason behind taking fresh faces in the movie was the requirement of the script and their histrionics and acting skills gel well with the guiding theme of the movie. I just had to take the final call on short listing their names."
