In appreciation of organ donation

In appreciation of organ donation

MUNISH DHIMAN  1st Dec 2012

A view of the felicitation ceremony in progress
n old saying 'Whoever saves one life saves the world entire' is relevant even today. 45-year-old housewife Balwinder Kaur facilitated the rebirth if her nine-year-old son. She saved her son's life by donating her kidney. Kaur said, "I cannot give bigger gifts to my son but I feel proud that I gave the best gift to my child. It is the most beautiful feeling I have ever experienced in my life. I am excited and happy the way I was when he came to my life nine years back. I gave birth to my son again."
These instances of immense courage are not rare but often slip asunder in public memory. Such unsung heroes who saved the lives of their loved ones were felicitated at Fortis in Chandigarh. 11 organ donors were felicitated during the ceremony. Madan Mohan Mittal, Health Minister, Punjab, presented the awards to these individuals. He commended their brave and compassionate act and said, "More people need to come forward and follow the excellent example set by these brave-hearts so that precious human lives can be saved."
