Chandigarh duo hit the highways for peace

Harminder and Bupinder astride their bike
arminder Singh, a final year student of B.Tech at SPCET, Mohali, and Bupinder Singh, a school teacher from Srinagar pursuing his masters, are currently travelling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on a mission – to eradicate unrest amongst Indian youth. They have proved beyond doubt that the chilly winds sweeping the valley, the intermittent spells of heavy snow, and the wayward weather conditions, cannot pose any hindrance to their mission.
They seem to be seized by the growing instances of social unrest among the youth. The scary situation has set the ball rolling for these young crusaders to conceptualize a mission, whereby bringing change in their mindset. The intrepid duo was steadfast to embark on this roller coaster journey all alone, for obvious reasons of finding support from like-minded people and scarcity of time. Pinning up hope for a hugely successful odyssey Harminder says, "The guiding theme of this journey is a mission to bring the youth together and gather their views on a range of burning issues, like eve-teasing, growing incidents of modesty blaze, female foeticide, and violence against women."
"We are also trying to unearth reasons leading to the perpetration of such crimes and fixing responsibility of the police, government and others to find a workable solution to the ever-growing problem and moving law-forcing agencies to punish the guilty. We want to discover ways and means to root out the rot from our society." adds Harminder.

With these innovative ideas in mind, they are all set to go places and interact with the youth at large and apprise them of the ground realities. They have also plans to   discuss threadbare the mechanism to bring about the much-desired changes. They are of the view that rampant corruption in our system, the denigration of our moral values and the perceptible frustration among our youth, caused by unemployment, are some of the reason behind unrest.
Bupinder further says, "Our mission is not to change the way one thinks and we are certainly not on a mission to convince anybody and everybody. We are just going to help them speak about what they feel and think about the changing scenario. Today's youth is proactive, powerful and intelligent enough to distinguish between the right and the wrong, but the only thing lacking is confidence, unity, and holding ground."
