aryana Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA), a premier non-government and non-commercial cultural organisation of North India, is all set to organise its 3rd Haryana Contemporary Art Exhibition at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector-16, Chandigarh, from July 18 to 21, exclusively for the Haryana-based artists.
The exhibition will cover a wide spectrum of art works by various artists, including sculpture, painting, photography, graphics, drawing, multi-media etc. The exhibition will provide a emerging platform for artists to showcase their creativity.
"The sole objective of the exhibition is to explore the hidden creative talent from the state of Haryana and bring it to the fore by displaying their art work which has so far remained unexplored in the absence of a state Lalit Kala Akademi. In the dearth of appropriate platforms and opportunities, many artists have remained neglected in their own state for over a period of time. This effort has definitely brought in a ray of hope for them," says Dr Piush Kumar, Secretary, HIFA.
More than 100 artists from Haryana are expected to showcase their works during the four-day long exhibition. Cultural programs by certain internationally-acclaimed artistes and a book exhibition by India's leading publishers will be an added attraction. Some of the agencies participating in the book exhibition are Oxford University Press, National Book Trust and the Lalit Kala Akademi.
Awards and fellowships of more than Rs 7.5 lakh will be awarded during the award ceremony and a life time achievement award will also be given to Padmabhushan Krishen Khanna. Talking about the awards, Shakti Rani Sharma, trustee, HIFA, says, "This platform will see a cluster of artists ranging from seasoned to legendry artistes hailing from various hamlets and cities in Haryana. The exhibition will be on view between 11:00 am and 07:00 pm from 18 to 21 July.
