handigarh was abuzz with people from the tinsel town this week as Diya Mirza, Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan visted the city on various occasions.
Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan were in town to promote their latest release Ghanchakkar . The lead actors were accompanied by director Rajkumar Gupta. They paid a visit to the Hotel Bella Vista in connection with a promotional activity organised by Cleopatra.
Balan was pleasantly surprised to see the crowd imitating her style and dress code that she had donned in the movie. About the film and her character, she said, "This is one of the most adorable yet challenging characters I've played so far. I am playing the role of a middle class woman who loves her husband very dearly. She feels as if she's been the most fashionable and a woman of substance on earth, which is surely part of her delusions."
The actress has teamed up with Gupta for the second time, after No One Killed Jessica, as also with Emraan Hashmi post The Dirty Picture.
Hashmi is all excited about the upcoming comedy and said, "I can just say that I love to do unique characters and experiment with different kinds of role. I wonder as to why actors choose to stick to just one character type and don't really walk an extra mile and experiment. I felt really nice after working in Ghanchakkar as it was a whole new experience."
Diya Mirza is the brand ambassador of The Body Shop and was in town for inaugurating a store in the city's biggest mall. Mirza is on a sabbatical from her acting career. But, Bornfree, her home production house, keeps her busy these days.
Her focus right now is on film production and she wants to offer a platform to new talent. The actress evinced her keen interest for the Punjabi cinema. She said, "I love regional cinema and last year I did a Bengali film and, should there be an offer from Punjabi cinema, I would gladly accept it."
The actress fiercely believes that each one should become socially responsible and extend his/her support to social welfare causes. She is working with an NGO Goonj' and said, "I am really upset over the natural calamity that has befallen Uttrakhand. I laud the exemplary efforts of the Indian Army, Air Force for evacuating the flood-hit victims to safer places. I think it should serve as a wake-up call for the environment ministry as well as for individuals that nature should be respected."
