t a height of 6900 feet above sea level, rows upon rows of lush green and stately pine and deodar groves surrounding it, with the majestic hills silhouetted against the vast horizon, is nestled the 360 degree —Top of the World restaurant. Located barely 22 km away from Shimla, at Naldehra, the restaurant is the first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh. This octagonal shaped restaurant, spread over 320 sq ft with a conical roof and see-through glass windows, is the brainchild of father-son duo Yatish Sood and Amish Sud.
Naldehra is a popular hill destination for tourists from home and abroad housing the century-old 18-hole Naldehra golf course and hence makes for an ideal location for the restaurant. "It will literally be a top of world experience as while sitting inside the restaurant one can have a grand an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the hills dotting the dazzling valley," says Sud, director, The Chalets Naldehra.
Sood, says, "This place, essentially a lift room, posed a perennial hurdle. So the basic idea behind the innovation was to beautify the spot and add charm to the property. The concept of revolving restaurants is nothing new to the world, but it had been a long cherished dream to bring in something like that to our hill state, and that's how we conceptualised the idea."
A disco ball at the centre, powered by the mesmerising music, special beverage and food menus are some of the added attractions of the restaurant, besides offering a view of the valley, with a rotating floor that completes a 360-degree round in just 15 minutes. The speed may be increased or decreased as per the requirement.
The restaurant can accommodate as many as 20 heads on a first-come-first-serve basis. It has an imposing waiting room for the convenience of those visiting. The cane furniture adds to the grandeur of the restaurant without adding much to its weight content.
Adding further about the restaurant, Sud, says, "We have always tried to provide a wholesome experience to our guests. This latest addition to our property is aimed at providing a rare and unforgettable experience to our valued customers."
