tarted 12 years ago as an annual event, Vanity Fair today is a biannual lifestyle event, and is one of the most sought after shopping festivals.
This year some 120 odd exhibitors showcased their products in Chandigarh including several first time exhibitors from Mumbai, Lucknow, Agra, Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Delhi, and Dubai etc. With some great shopping, music, food, children's activity & play area, and live entertainment in the evening there will be something for everyone at the event.
This edition of Vanity Fair showcased its spring/summer show, a unique exhibition of Indo-western wear, saris, tunics, western wear etc. Couture is not the only offering, the fair has just about the latest in handbags & shoes, semi-precious jewellery, lifestyle accessories, artefacts, wrought iron, garden & wooden furniture, paintings and prints, home linen, carpets and garden accessories.
Leaving some of the stalls aside, the Vanity Fair was a colourful yet pricy affair as a majority of the items were highly priced. Some of the exhibitors that stood different from others included footwear maker 'Adaa' from Mumbai that boast customising colours and designs. 'Besspoke Ensemble' was another exhibitor that claimed of offering the A—Z of wedding requirements, starting from invitations.
Priya Jagat, organiser said, "The theme being spring/summer there were flowers and colours all over the fair. Response to the collection was overwhelming and the crowd was massive. Right now I haven't really started working for the October edition, but yes, it is going to be another great show."
Preeti Verma, a regular shopper at the Vanity Fair said, "I wanted to check out the accessories, the jewellery and the fabrics this time. I picked up a lot of stuff from the fair every year and am a loyal visitor. This time too it had a colourful range of fabric, kid's accessories, and gemstones to choose from."
Another regular visitor, Mansi Gupta said, "The best feature of the event is that it exhibits several exhibitors from different parts of the country that offer a huge variety of items. Another attractive feature of the fair is that you can checkout anything and everything including dresses, accessories, shoes and bags without wasting much of your time. And above that you don't have to walk much to see different collections which make it less tiring."
Those who missed out the opportunity to make it to the fair this time can do so during the next edition which is scheduled for October this year.
