Bhagwant Maan (center) with other Punjabi film stars
ndradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula turned into a mini film city as stars from the Punjabi film industry gathered in big numbers at the 2nd Big Punjabi Entertainment Award, an annual affair that celebrates the achievements of various contributors in the field of entertainment.
The award function was attended by crème de la crème of celebrities including new comers as well as the who's who of the Punjabi film industry. Surveen Chawla, Gaurav Chopra, Bhagwant Maan, Sherry Mann, Navaniat Singh, Gippy Grewal, Miss Pooja, Kanth Kaler, Preet Harpal, Jasbir Jassi, Jatinder Shah, Preeto Sawhney are just to name a few, who were a part of the gala event.
Live performances by Sherry Maan, Karan Gill, Kanth Kaler, Lakhwinder Wadali, Gippy, Miss Pooja, and others left the audience awestruck.
Prompt, persuasive and rib-tickling comic punches by Bhagwant Maan took the event to another level. Satires on politics and evils like corruption was an eye opener for the audience.
Gaurav Mahajan, marketing head, Big Fm, tells Guardian20, "This is merely a way to encourage people who are associated with the growing Punjabi film industry. It is an honour for us to highlight the popularity of Punjabi cinema and honour for those who contribute majorly for its continuous growth."
"There are award functions that honour and encourage stars from films but I believe, the star performers in other arenas must also be recognised and honoured for their contribution. Our motto is to revere and concede these awards as the zenith of professional appreciation and accomplishment."
Elated Ustaad Puran Shah Koti, who received the life time achievement award for his contribution in the field of music says, "It's always overwhelming to receive an award because it's not just a trophy but a certificate that recognises and values your involvement."
